Being good is just too much for Eli

All day yesterday Eli was so good. He hardly argued with me, I don't think he whined at all, and he was just so sweet. We went to aerobics and he played with the other kids so nicely, we went to the store and he sat so good in the cart, we went outside and he played by himself so that I could get flowers planted, he ate all his dinner without trying to get down after only eating one bite, he  remembered to ask if he could be excused, he even told me I was pretty without asking for a treat afterward.

I thought all my yelling at him for the last three years had finally paid off. I had raised a wonderful perfect child. Oh if dreams were fishes, right?

I guess by about 7:45 he just couldn't take it anymore. He decided being good was just no fun and he was going to make up for it in the last 15 minutes he had left of his day.

First he decided to dump out all of Hallie's little puffs all over the ground. Then Ryan went into the garage for a second and when he came back Eli was dumping water on top of Hallie's head. When Ryan asked him why he did it he said, "because Heavenly Father told me too." (bet you didn't know Heavenly Father told little boys to dunk their sisters). Of course Ryan gets mad at him, not only for dumping the water, but also for lying, and tells him to go inside and get ready for bed.

Ryan meets him in the bathroom to get his teeth brushed and as they are heading to Eli's room Ryan notices that Eli is trying to smuggle a granola bar into his bedroom. (Eli knows he is not supposed to eat in his room). Ryan confiscates the granola bar and because of all the bad choices he also takes Eli's tiger (the worst punishment ever) his zebra, and his bear. All items he loves to sleep with so that he can pick "fuzzies" off them and rub them on his nose. (yes, I am aware my child is weird). anyway, needless to say Eli went to bed screaming.

Well, I was not home when al this occurred, so when I get home Eli comes running out of his room with a big smile to give me a hug  like nothing happened. I tell him he needs to go back to bed. He begs me to take him, so of course I do. Well, as I lay him in bed I notice his giraffe is on his bed. (Remember Ryan took all his animals away, except the giraffe). The reason Ryan didn't take his giraffe away was because the giraffe sits on the top shelf in his bedroom. So the only way he could possibly have his giraffe was if he climbed the shelf and got it down (another thing he knows he is not supposed to do).

I just let it to go and left his room. I am a big pushover. Anyway he came out of his room a few more times( another thing he isn't supposed to do). Then we didn't hear from him anymore so we assumed he had finally gone to bed.

Before I went to bed I went to check on the kids. I go in Eli's room and he is not there. I noticed his playroom door is closed and so I try to open it it is locked. (Yes, another thing we have told him a million times not to do-lock doors). Anyway I start laughing find the key and unlock the door. The light was off. I turn it on and there is Eli sound asleep on the floor in his tent with his little giraffe. I couldn't believe it. And it wasn't  like he was playing in there and fell asleep. He had grabbed a pillow, his giraffe, turned off the light, climbed in his tent and went to bed.

So much for me thinking I had finally gotten through to him and was finally going to have a well behaved kid. I am sure today we will be back to our normal days of screaming, crying, arguing, and getting into things he is not supposed to.

Another talent I DON"T possess....

Haircutting!

Yesterday, I decided Eli's hair was just getting too long. I had just bought some new clippers and scissors and decided I would try to cut it myself. I figured it couldn't be that hard.

Ryan asked if I wanted him to help me, and I guess I said, "What? You think I can't cut hair?" So I guess he took that as I am an expert hair cutter. So he let me just cut away. Well, I had no idea what I was doing, and you can see I really screwed things up.

I was just cutting away. Not really with any type of plan or really rhyme or reason. I then decided I better stop and evaluate.Things didn't look so good and I said, "ahh CRAP!" Ryan looks and goes "what did you do?" I said, "I think I cut it a little short." Ryan says, "I thought you said you knew how to cut hair." I said, "no. I have no idea."

Ryan tried to fix it with the new clippers I bought, but they were CRAP! So we decided to run to Wal-Mart and buy some clippers that actually worked. (Of course we made Eli put on a hat).

We came home and the only way Ryan could fix my mistake was to shave his hair. I was so sad. I am not a big fan of the buzzed head look. He just doesn't look as cute, and he looks more grown up.

This morning Eli looked in the mirror and said, "I see my new haircut." I said, "yeah. Do you like it?" And Eli says, "NOPE!" When I asked why he said, "I just don't." I wanted to say neither do I. But instead I had to smile and say, "it makes you look so cool bud."

Next time I better just let someone else do it.

Having a bad day?

IMG_1470 IMG_1469 IMG_1464 I promise I wasn't beating him! So what is the cause of this sad, sad face? Getting his picture taken. Yes. That is right all of this because I wanted to take some random shots of him. I wasn't even asking him to pose.

I am still trying to figure out my camera that I have had for 6 months, so I decided to take pictures of Eli to test some things out. Well, he wanted  NOTHING to do with it. as a result I got these fabulous pictures.  I actually think they are kind of funny.

He normally doesn't get so upset about things. I think he was having a bad day.

And for the record I still haven't figured out my camera. all my pictures are either blurry or grainy. If anyone has any tips PLEASE send them my way!

Splish Splash

IMG_0719

There is just something about little kids in a tub. I LOVE it! Every time Hallie and Eli are in the tub, I just think it is so cute. Maybe it is because they both just seem to love it. And I love it when they are happy.   Maybe it is because they are clean, or maybe it is because they are contained to one place and I don't have to chase them around. Whatever the reason I love it. The whole time they laugh and play and splash.I honestly think I have a million "tub" pictures, because they are just so. dang. cute.

Eating is a waste unless its Ryan's Alfredo

I am not a big food person. I don't like to eat, and think it is a total waste of time. I think of all the time in a day spent thinking about what food eat, making food, eating food or feeding your children food, and cleaning up food. When all is said and done I swear half your day was a slave to something that had to do with food. (and I don't even make the food). That's the day to day food issues. We won't even go into the time you waste eating when you are on vacation. You could totally pack so much more fun in a short vacation if you didn't have to spend time deciding where to eat, waiting for your food, and then eating the food..

Don't get me wrong I enjoying going out to eat, if it is the event. I love going out to eat with Ryan when on a date, and going out to eat with friends is always fun. But that's because that is my plan for the day/night. I don't have to stop what I am doing to eat  and I don't have to clean it up.

With all that said, I have to say one of the times I really look forward to eating is the night I know Ryan is going to make his Broccoli Alfredo. I  love Alfredo and I have never eaten anywhere that has Alfredo that tastes as good as his. It is my FAVORITE. I seriously think I could eat it everyday. It is so rich and creamy. My butt and thighs aren't too fond of it, but who cares it tastes delicious!  Then you throw in his breadsticks, and it is my heaven. I can't get enough. I am actually quite sad right now, because tonight for dinner I just finished off the leftovers. That means starting tomorrow I will again dread all the time it takes out of my schedule to eat food.

He CAN be sweet!

Eli can be such a handful for me sometimes. Especially lately it seems he has really been testing my patience. But last night the kid totally redeemed himself, and made me realize he can be a sweetheart sometimes.

Eli's great-grandparents gave him a little two wheeler but the tires needed to be fixed. We finally got it fixed the other day, and now all he wants to do is ride his new bike. He talks about it all the time and just loves it. So we clear the cars out of the garage and he just rides circles for extended periods of time, 9because it is so darn cold he can't actually ride it outside).

Well, last night we went out to dinner and then to Ross. Of course while we were out he kept saying when we got home he wanted to ride his bike. (He actually calls it a bicycle, because the grandparents that gave it to him call it that and so he is convinced it is a bicycle, not a bike). While we were out and about I started to get a migraine (again!) so we come home and I go straight to my room and lie down. Eli goes out and rides his bike, while Ryan takes care of Hallie. A couple minutes later Eli comes in my room. I say, "Hey bud, why aren't you out riding your bike?" HeIMG_1302 says, "Because I just want to come in here and lay by you so you will feel better".So of course, I jump on the chance to snuggle the cute little kid, because he never lets me snuggle him. And I felt so good knowing that he chose me over his beloved bicycle. Mom-1 Bicycle-0. YES!

As we are laying there he is being so good, and not very wiggly (amazing!) and I ask him what he is thinking about. He says, "I am just thinking about how much funner it will be when you don't have a migraine anymore. Then he says, "And it makes me sad when you are sick".Awww. What a sweet little boy. He does care about his mom. He made my whole night.

A much needed vacation

One thing I miss the most, and the least since Ryan quite his job is his traveling. I miss it because he traveled so much that there was always a couple trips I would get to go with him. So I always had a vacation to look forward too. We always stayed in really nice hotels, all our food was paid for, I usually got either a massage or pedicure, and many times we were completely catered too. Well since Ryan has quite his job we no longer get to enjoy those perks, but I also get to see Ryan a lot more because he isn't flying here or there all the time.

Well because he doesn't fly here or there all the time we have not gone on a little vacation for quite some time. Of course being the spoiled brat that I am,  I was complaining to Ryan, so he set up a nice relaxing vacation for the two of us. Now we didn't stay in any 5 star hotels, and we had to pay for all our meals, no massage, and no one catered to us at all, but it was still one of the best vacations I have been on. Why you ask? Because we had absolutley NO responsibility, it was warm and we shopped a lot! We had no plans whatsoever. so we could do whatever we felt like doing whenever we wanted. It was great!

So this is our trip in a nut shell:

Arrived in St. George-shopped and ate.

Arrived in Mesquite: relaxed in the hot tub. Slept.

Arrived in Las Vegas-shopped and ate.

Arrived in Primm: shopped, hot tub, slept.

Back to Vegas-Shopped. Gambled-a whole four dollars (those penny slots are a killer)

Arrived in Cedar city: Hot tub, ate slept.

Drove home the scenic way.

Notice the trend? Lots of shopping, eating and sleeping! It was great!

And now I am ready to be a mom again! I missed those cute kids!

and Thanks Ryan for the weekend away! It was PERFECT!
